Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, a famous French architect, was buried in the Cimetière du Bois-de-Vaux in Lausanne after his death in 1879. His grave still exists today. Interestingly, his villa, La Vedette, was demolished in 1975, a hundred years after its construction, during the European Year of Architectural Heritage.
