Despite the pressure from the Bernese authorities, the Anabaptist movement, also known as Täufertum, never completely disappeared from the Berner Aargau region. In the 16th and 17th centuries, many Anabaptists from Zurich migrated to the upper Wynen and Ruedertal valleys, where they maintained their faith and practices.
