On July 20, 1944, a US Liberator bomber crashed in the Prestberg woods near Weisslingen, Switzerland, after being hit by German flak over Friedrichshafen. The crew had to abandon the plane, and one of the navigators, John J. Trautner, broke his foot during the landing. Interestingly, Trautner's first request after being taken to the hospital was for milk, as he hadn't seen any in months.
